Children and Young People Community Based Projects

Your life. Your choice. Your voice.

Map of Swindon town Centre

The Indy Project

This is a community based project for children and young people (10 to 18 years) with a special education need (SEND) or disability. If you would like to learn a new life skill this project could be for you.

Examples of new things others have learnt:

  • learning to use a bus
  • learning more about your condition or disability
  • finding out what’s available for you in Swindon
  • starting a new mainstream activity
  • opening a bank account

This new project will provide you with access to an advocate who will work with you to learn a new life skill of your choosing. The Advocate will provide you with the support to practice taking the small steps to reach your goal. You will have the space, time and positive support to attempt new things, like speaking to the bus driver or paying for your own bus ticket!

You will then have the opportunity to put your new skills into practice by joining a group.
